People forget how difficult winning championships in multiple weight classes used to be, and how little attempted it was. Until the mid-eighties only six fighters in boxing history had attained three-division status (including such luminaries as Armstrong, Arguello, and Benitez).

Hell i could even see him getting to 150 and outpointing any of the light middleweight champs.

How many other boxers could you say that of in the histroy of the sport. For most it would take a year or two just to adjust to the weight class.

Reason why i believe floyd could do it
1.comes in around 145-147 on fight night without even trying to drop weight. Also he has never struggled even at 130 to make the weight.

      2. Is crafty and skillfull enough to easily outpoint anyone at 154 while being undersized. All he would have to do is get around 149-150 to fight at that class

      3. He would basically walked through any lightweight/light welterweight without getting hurt. It would basically be a sparring match for him. IF he wanted to he could fight 3-4 months between getting titles seeing he wouldnt suffer damage with his defensive style and could just outpoint or knockout the smaller guys.

I dont know board what do you guys think. Although floyd will never try something like this....i could easily see him doing it. (Just have a 3-4 fight year).
imho floyd should not drop weight to make fights but just call up fighters to his current weight class.

the lesson from rjj: never drop down in weight.

It would hurt floyd at all to drop weight. Look at most welterweights. cotto is a natural 157-160 and margarito has to be bigger than that. Mosley always gets back to around 158-160 around fight night so all these guys drop 10+ pounds. Floyd on the other hand is different. His natural walk around weight is 146-147 so i dont even think he has to work on dropping weight at all. Every time they do weigh in the day of the fight he is the same size as the official weigh in. So for him to drop 10lbs to get to the smaller classes is basically what every one of his opponents at welterweight has to do just to fight him for a welterweight title.

Walk around weight vs fight weight is a major factor...Floyd is the one of the few guys that fight at his walk around weight. Hell i wouldnt be shock if he was able to get down to 130 if he wanted to....pacquiao is around 145-146 walk around weight, same as floyd.

you must have not read my intial post...Im saying floyd could hold 3 titles if he wanted. 135,140,147. His walk around weight is 146 so if he did what most if not all boxers did and drop weight he could easily make Lightweight beat that guy then a couple of months later beat the 140 champ...all doing this with ease. Just have a busy 3-4 fight year. He is the only boxer i can think of that is talented enough to do it. Hell if he didnt have to defend the belt soon...he could easily get to 150 and outpoint any of the JM title holders. Just would take him a 1 and a few months (if he stayed busy) to do so. That would definately solidify him as the greatest fighter ever pound for pound. It wont happen but he is very capable of doing something like this.

thats the thing, he didn't. floyd could have done many things that no one had ever done if he wanted but he didnt. floyd lacked one of the qualities that many of the ATG's had which was never ending hunger and ambition. his fuel was only money and this was evident towards the end of his career.

i will only praise him for what he did early and mid career. but im not gonna praise him for what he was capable of.
