    Why can Roy beat Calzaghe?

I am not convinced he can. I am a massive Roy fan. He is my favourite fighter of all time and its not even close, he is a true legend of the ring.

That said, I have been watching all his fights over again and I just can't see how he has what it takes any more. I want so much to believe but I am struggling. Please let this be the thread where my fellow Roy Jones fans assist me in seeing the light.

He is bigger, faster, and stronger than Joe. He is way past his prime so I think it is an uphill battle for him but he is a TRUE legend and they always pull off the amazing.

Naw i still think Roy could pull this one off but its gonna have to come on defense. His hand speed is still the best in the game (even at his age 39) and we all know he has sudden power(look at his last fight). so i thinks its possible because imo he hits harder than hopkins, lacy, kessler

He's only a couple of years older and has no major injuries or problems. Calzaghe is also out of his prime and has brittle hands, so probably won't test even Roys weakish chin.

Roy still probably faster hands which Calzaghe has never faced before, let alone someone as fast. He's used to winning fights with his speed, not being on the back foot with someone elses, that could easily overwhelm him.

Roys got better ring intelligence and tactics, and will go in with a much better game plan than Calzaghe. Calzaghe doesn't prepare so well, and only adapts in the ring, sometimes when it's nearly to late.

I still favour a Joe UD but only if he's on his game. Roy has a good shot at winning, he's surprised people before, and finds ways to win even with what's he's got, which is still immense ability, boxing brain, tactics, intelligence and determination.

Good assessment. I don't know if he's still faster tho.

I agree with everything up until you said JC wins by UD. IF ANYTHING goes in JC's favor, the most likely decision is a split. I can't see JC giving RJJ a boxing lesson and taking a UD. The other way around is the most believable outcome, which is Jones by UD. He has the tools, he has the experience, it's all a matter of what Jones shows up. I think he will, if nothing else, expose JC for what he is given all you just said.

Definitely faster. Roy throws FAST hard punches. JC throws FAST, weak/slapping punches. There is the difference.
