I wouldn't call him "gentle." And he wasn't from Spain. He was from New Spain, lol That's Mexico. And he founded Manila. But before him, the Arabs had the Phillipines, then Miguel took the Phillipines.

But I wouldn't call Miguel Gentle, lol He just didn't have to fight with any Empire's or soldiers when he began bringing rule to all the little communities and islands. He basically set up shop without any resistance, the most blood shed and war in the Phillipines during that time wasn't even between native Flips and the Spanish. It was immeditately between the Spanish and Portiguese. They bothin wanted the set of islands for a trading center.

      What?

lol This isn't the movie 300 kid, it's well documented that the Spanish had over 4,000 Tlaxcalans marching with them. Actin like history hasn't been disproven or that it's writters especially in this country aren't the biased ones. I mean I was taught America got it's independance from the English by way of George Washington, when the truth is, the French played a Major roll in America's independance. I was taught America fought the ****'s and saved the ***s. Truth is, America new about Hitler the whole time, they didn't care what Hitler was doing, it wasn't until Hitler got too bold and ordered the Japanese to attack the U.S. that got America involved. lol If the Japanese weren't alligned with the Axis and attacked the U.S. the U.S. would have continued to let Hitler go on about his business.

And don't be mad and try to discredit our Culture and History just cause your ancestors were some butt naked pigme cannibals lol. That's a ***** move "ShadeyFizzzle" [insert picture of Riley lol]

you can argue with him all you want about the conquistadors and stuff. i'm a student of world and military history but the my experience on aztec and spanish conquistadores literature is limited and i'm sure you've studied it more than i.

let me correct you on the french thing and hitler thing though.

the french played a major role in the war of independence but it was mainly through arms aid and naval blockade. french involvement on the ground was very limited and to say that george washington and the continental army didn't defeat the english to gain independence is incorrect.

you are also wrong concerning your views of hitler and america. i'm sure there were some rumors and stories that made it to the u.s. about what was happening to the ***s but remember most of the atrocities were farther east in the balkans and eastern europe. who would convey the story? the interned ***ish prisoners? the **** guards? i have not read a single book that said americans went to save the ***s. the intent was to defeat hitler and germany not to save anyone. the extent of the holocaust wasn't discovered 'til our troops were pretty much on the ground and found the **** camps. another statement you made that was also incorrect was that hitler ordered the japanese to attack the u.s. hitler had no power to order the japanese to do anything. he even pleaded with the japanese to attack russia and japan never did because they had their own goals and ideas. tojo was not mussolini. hitler was in no position to order the japanese around. japan was a major global power , having defeated russia in the early 1900's and even invading and taking german territories from germany in world war 1. japan attacking germany was in japan's interest and what they wanted because of their goals of taking the philippines and oil rich malaya.

My point is on how History is written, especially in this country. And you proved my point, America didn't go to Germany to save anyone, but we are taught that is exactly what America did. We had ***ish teachers lined up in our class room when we learned that, all cryin an ****, had to watch Shindlers list an ****.

And I didn't say the French put soldiers on the ground, I said they played a Major roll in America's independance. And you basically agreed with me lmao, so what are you arguing? Specifics? Okay...But too bad for you, I'm all out of cookies. How about a gentle pat on the head? MaYaN_SuN is here and he's givin out gentle pats on the head for specificis, TUA get your tiny ass over here! you need a gentle pat on the head, and if you're lucky, I'll shoot you a thumbs up too, Cause you deserve it.

Point is, America didn't have a fraction of the resources to gain their independance on their own, but thats not what we were taught. We were taught about super duper heroic George Washington and the ammendmants and all that. And the French supplying ship's to take out the British fleet was beyond vital. If they didn't supply those ships, the British would have mopped the place up with cannon fire. lol That wasn't just a "tiny favor."

well then i think the problem is not the books but maybe the teaching?

books have been known to be incorrect but sometimes teachers add their own opinions to it.

i'll let you have this one mayan. i'm in no position to say what your "teacher" taught you. you can go back to arguing with shady about conquistadores. ha ha ha

Hey, I already said he was Mexican at the time he set out for these islands.
He was born and grew up in Guipuzcoa, and relocated to Nueva España later.

As for Arabs in Manila....close, but not quite. Arabs traded and proselytized,
but did not meaningfully settle. There was eventually a Malay Muslm enclave at the mouth of the Pasig river where it empties into Manila bay. The ******s
had to fortify it somewhat for fear of the non-****** Filipinos.

Worst piece-of-**** real estate there was, the ass-end of a national sewer.
However, the existing wooden pallisade sold Legazpi on that patch of swamp.
                      Thus ...Manila.

Before Spanish settlement, the bay's nerve center wasn't Manila, but
Tundun, and even that wasn't as wealthy as the agricultural centers
                      of Bai, etc.

But I wouldn't call Miguel Gentle, lol He just didn't have to fight with any Empire's or soldiers when he began bringing rule to all the little communities and islands. It was immeditately between the Spanish and Portiguese. They bothin wanted the set of islands for a trading center.
First conflict was a Portuguese blockade at Cebu, yes.
However there was no real bloodshed in that confrontation.
And yes, there were no advanced city structures like you had over there,
but there wasn't a total lack of bloodshed between us and Spaniards,
                      heheh...

There were very minor skirmishes on the way north to Manila, and
that's why his nephew Juan de Salcedo sat out the "battle of Manila Bay",
he got ass****ed by a dog****-coated arrow near Batangas, and ran a fever.
de Goiti had a HARD fight to take Manila: the natives timed the battle to
coincide wih a downpour, so that the Spanish arcabuzes (harquebuses)
were useless. It was steel on steel, in a terrain of swamp and then
steep hills. ******s lost badly, while the non-Muslms gnerally sat it out
                      and weighed their options.

That those non-Muslm Filipinos DIDN'T later fight is because Legazpi quickly
brought in his ultimate WMD*: the Catholic religion, ministered by the
Augustinian friars. Christus Vincit Omni, right?
We couldn't say no to that good stuff, lol.

The Carta from Felipe II instructing gentleness, is a matter of public record.
The unhappiness of Legazpi's own men is recorded in several relaciones.
Legazpi was hated by his own men because he deferred to the natives as
much as possible, and had Spaniards whipped when found guilty of pilferage
or assault against natives. He was fair, and that's a no-no when trying a
                      case betwen whites and browns.

                      But that's "history".
Sometimes it's hard to say what's fact and what's old propaganda.
The present is so much better to discuss, as is the future.

This Mexicans hating on Filipinos and vice versa is ridiculous.
All else we have in common aside, there's one thing we share
                      that we might agree on:

                      We love boxing, eh?
