Any Roy Jones jr. style gyms arround Houston?

Hi for anyone who doesn't know me, my name is John Mcadam and i live in Houston.

I posted a couple of videos of me sparring and training yesterday and people said i was talented and had skills but that i should fight a lil bit more orthodox since i fight more like jones jr. And my coach doesn't realy like me cause i don't fight the way he wants me to fight.

Now i took the advice of some guys here and im gonna change my gym.
Any of you know where in Houston i can find a gym where they teach you to fight like Roy Jones jr. ?

I am no expert.. but i could pretty much guarantee RJJ learnt to box standard before he was skilled enough to fight how he does.

Im sorry but you are doing it wrong. Jones built his style from the orthodox training he got not vice versa. You don't just say to yourself "hell Im fast Im gonna fight like Jones!!!" then do it. Create a foundation of good fundamental skills then expound on that with your creativity. You may not like it now but in the end once you learn proper technique you can create different aspects of that all to yourself

this is very true, you need to master the basics before you can alter them and create your own style .... there will never be another RJJ or Naz etc but if you are dedicated and master the basics you have at least a solid grounding with which to tinker to find your own style ..... all those on here who tell you that you will get kayo'd if you just go out there and try to fight like RJJ just because you are fast speak the truth .... it will happen because you wont or dont know the basics.

Like i said earlier you should just join another gym if your current trainer is a piss taker. then just knuckle down and learn the basics..

I agree with the posts above, Jones learned the basics before making his own style. I don't think his style is meant to emulated because what he did was unique, I think you can incorporate some of the things he did into your own style but you should learn the basics and then when you have accomplished that, create your own unique style if you want to.
