I am a fan of both fighters but it really isn't very close, Roy pretty easily.

floyd all the way, no contest. skillwise, his finesse trumps roy's dynamic fighting style. floyd's prime imo was when he was at 140, because he put everything together perfectly. his jab trumps roy's, he moved more fluently, he was more accurate, had better overall defense, this is obvious stuff, his power may not have been what roy's was, but he sat down on his punches very well at this weight, and his overall speed was faster than roy's, and he threw sharper punches from the head to body. people got caught up in roy's flashiness, but floyd, hands down was the better overall fighter.

****, let me break it down a little more shall i:

power-both had good power in their primes, but roy hit harder, this was obivous
speed-handspeed, roy may have had him slightly, but think about this though, roy had great handspeed, but floyd has better timing, so what's this saying? floyd's handspeed was just immaculate, because his timing was immaculate. the combination he threw at gatti in round 6 of their fight, hands down, was one of the greatest combinations in boxing history. it was thrown with finesse, power, and speed, and thrown perfectly, this is what you guys seem to forget. floyd's ability to land the punches he did against gatti in round 6 alone, is a testament of his true wit in the ring. the smaller man, landed threw left hooks from a feinting angle against the bigger man, roy has never looked this sharp imo ever.
defense-floyd, i don't even have to go too much into detail, that floyd has one of the greatest defenses in boxing history. floyd blocked punches better, while countering off of the blocks, just go back and watch his fight with justin jukko. you guys have to watch that fight. roy has never looked that sharp, never. floyd slipped punches better, but this is close because roy's reflexes were amazing. i watched his fight with virgill hill last night, and his slipping is just...i can't it even put it into words, just breath taking. he was so dynamic, but floyd was more well rounded, which is why he looked better in his fights against biggger fighters than roy did, the only problem with floyd, is that he had brittle hands, because i promise you all, have floyd not had brittle hands like he did, he would of had more knockdowns, and would have been much more offensive, like he was at 140.
overall intelligence-floyd and roy were thinking fighters, but more so floyd, he won his fights off of his intelligence and this is not kncoking roy, because every fighter in a way has to have an astute mindset to win their fights, but the angles roy and floyd punched from, how flashy they were, how dynamic they were, this is intelligence to the core. floyd, however, is arguably the smartest fighter in many years to come along. his countering from different angles, when and where to lets off combos or potshots. you see, floyd threw many more combos at smaller weight classes, but had a tendency to potshot at 147, yet, still dominate his fihgts. what does this show me? floyd's intelligence was in a league of his won, better than roy's. floyd beat fighters by outthinking them, not like roy, who's offense was his best defense. floyd could make a fighter look amateur when he fought him. i mean, he countered off of the ropes better than roy, hell he fought off of the ropes better than roy, and looked fluent. you see, floyd's punches looked sharp mostly all of the time, because he took pride in never looking sloppy, roy had a tendency to look very sloppy in his fights, but that was apart of his auara, he was a very talented fighter with a style that was so unique, made him that much more special. however, floyd's styles could be called a throwback style, but with with it's own swagger, because of how great floyd is. he truly looked like the perfect fighter in his prime, bar none.
