Probably because it's disrespectful to give a guy negative points at the end of a fight he risked his life in.

10 points is a good system because guys that get dropped a lot still have a chance. In the old days, guys would get dropped 7-8 times a round.

1-0
2-0
3-0

Instead of 10-9-10-8

At the end of the fight 7-5 is a lot more easier to understand than 118-117
