What fighter do you most respect?

I need to ask you guys a very serious question. Floyd Mayweather has long been considered boxing's pound for pound best- but he has tons of detractors. People that call him a coward, or insult his resume- but is there ANY current fighter in the sport that we universally acknowledge?

I mean, obviously every fighter is going to have naysayers- but you would THINK if a boxer was elite- even the people that disliked him for some petty reason would respect him, right?

Well...here's the question. What fighter gets the MOST universal recognition? Who is boxing's favorite son? I mean, Mayweather gets **** all the time from this forum. The man considered the best heavyweight- Klitschko- has tons of haters, too. The young champions like Berto and Williams are often called too green and their flaws discussed. Cotto has been said to be a fake- that his chin is suspect. Manny Pacquiao is just a brawler to many. Calzaghe is crticized for not sitting down on his punches and being a 'slapper'.

What current single fighter is almost universally respected for his in-ring accomplishments? Gatti, even though he was a rough brawler, became mostly loved by the boxing world for what he gave inside the ring. You'd find him getting 90% or better of the boxing world to at least acknowledge what he'd given- his heart- if not his skill.

What boxer do we most respect?

Who is currently the most respected boxer in the sport with the LEAST amount of detractors?

It's not Floyd...look at all the hate threads or people who see him as a coward. Like I said...all the guys mentioned about have wide fan bases that dislike them.

Glen Johnson for instance I find is often seen as a tough, veteran road warrior. He's not considered the sport's best- but I don't see many people who don't respect him.

Something along those lines....who do you guys think is the most widely respect boxer in the sport?

It depends on what you feel respected means.

When you are world reknown as the best boxer on the planet...your one respect ****er..and that is Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Everyone will have haters....if know one is hating on you then your not doing something right.

Well, I just mean who is mostly liked? What fighter has the best FAN/HATER ratio? What boxer gets almost every boxing fan's respect if not their fandom?

Like I said...Glen Johnson seems to me mostly respected to me. I don't know anyone that really DISLIKED say, Baldomir....a lot of people like to support Emmanual Augustus- never heard of someone really trashing his name.

I didn't even think of Shane. Not everybody sucks his ****...but who truly dislikes Mosley? That's a good one. Most people respect the guy at least. Pacquiao has many Mexican fans that dislike him, but other than that...I do agree. Manny seems hard to dislike.

                  Zab and Carlos Baldomir
Zab because he will fight ANYONE
                  and
Baldomir for WORKING AND EARNING his way to a belt and a fight towards Floyd.
Baldy is like the "Rudy" of boxing.
