Exactly why it is not defense. It is merely covering up and hoping you don't get hit. Defense is the art of actively avoiding getting hit. Be it blocking, slipping or perrying. Winky catches uppercuts, AA sits there and preys they don't split his guard.

That might apply if I was actually a Miranda fan. I am not. He is like a modern day Julian Jackson. Not very good, poor boxing skills, wide ponderous punches, not very athletic, but he can hit like a freight train so he is exciting to watch.

I like AA, but I do not like what people are making him out to be. The reason AA vs Miranda was going to be such an exciting fight was that both fighters are big punchers with dubious boxing skills.

It was going to be like Foreman vs Lyle II

Now all the sudden because AA fought scared and off the back foot, he is a defensive mastermind, and the best counter-puncher in the sport.

Thats not true, AA is still the same fairly limited puncher that I love.

Its how you are suppose to do it. Left upper, catch with your right glove. Right upper, catch with your left. They can also be perryed, but I have never been comfortable doing that.

I usually just move out of the way, Uppercuts thrown straight up the middle could be caught by closing your gloves really tight, Its worth a try.

It works, but there is always a danger of having your guard split, and you leave yourself open to body shots.

We need to clear some things up. Arthur Abraham has terrible defense. Covering up in a shell and RUNNING is not defense.

People have been saying ****** things like AA was sitting in his shell looking for counters.

NO... just NO! AA was not looking for counters, AA was covering up. He was covered up in a manner that you CANT SEE.

That is not defense, that is covering up.

He didn't pick off any body shots with elbows, he just covered up in his shell and did nothing.

Arthur was doing absolutely nothing... NOTHING... just sitting in his shell... He look scared, and luckily for him, Miranda started to get wild, and AA can punch.

If Miranda wasn't such a ****** fighter, he could have easily walked off with a decision because AA was not being a defensive mastermind that was controlling the fight, he was a fighting like a scared man that didn't want to get hurt.

That is the response of someone who refuses to accept the fact that arthur abraham won

I think Abraham has a decent defense. Most boxers arent going to hit him very cleanly on the head. The problem is when he's on defense, thats all he's doing for the most part. Just defending. Maybe it was just because he was fighting Miranda but he lost the first couple rounds simply because he spent the entire time in a sheel backing away.

Arthur Abraham used the same style Ali did its more of a strategy than defense, either way miranda got knocked out early there are really no excuses.
