when i saw him hit Mikki when he was on the floor i thought of barrera vs marquez right away lol
Berto should have been DQed

He was hit while he was down, allowed to fight for a few more seconds, then the ref decided he was not fit to continue. It should be a DQ loss for Berto.
That was not some accidental love tap, Berto nailed him with a HARD right hand while he was down.Comment

I agree with you. Berto should control himself better. A ****** move tike that may cost him a good win.Comment

whats supposed to happen is that the ref stops the fight, gives the downed fighter a (I think) 5 minute rest period, and then asks the fighter if he can continue. if the fighter says no, he wins. If the guy is a warrior and says he can continue, the fight continues from there.
its not really a guarentee that Gonzalez would have gone for the easy win, so I dont think we should look at it as a DQ.
and honestly...oh well. who cares. it made 0 impact on the fight, Gonzalez was gone. If someone automatically got DQed when they get hit when they were down, Marquez would have a win over Pacquiao, Leonard would have a win over Norris, blah blah blah blah blah...
I know it sounds cruel, but this just makes me want to watch Berto more. a fighter with killer instinct is fun to watch, just like someone like Terry Norris.Comment

Berto is not the ww people should get hopes on. He is too small and stationary for his own sake. He should fight Williams next to build Williams up. You know, nowadays fighters feed on 0's and Berto should pass it on to Williams, just my oppinion. Williams then would fight Cotto or Margarito.Comment

that's ridiculous. it's a fight, punches are going to be thrown. it's up to the ref to step in and stop the action when a fighter is down. berto was only guilty of acting like a fighter in there tonight.Comment
