Our olympic boxing team looks pretty good all round really. They train like pro's, get paid and everything, it's mad.

UK posters, I suggest you download Oscar De La Hoya's pro debut, after his own olympic success from the video trading block on this site if you want a good laugh.

I have never witnessed such an orgy of masturbatory attraction towards a fighter in my life, and that is saying something because I was posting here during Calzaghe's appearance on Wossy last night and we all know how that made us feel.

Joseph Murray looked really tough too. I watched every round of the amateur championships live.
Didn't see much in the upper divisions but the U.S didn't have much either.

From light heavy up, eastern europeans from former soviet republics dominated.

At any rate, by all means celebrate your champs. We'll probably have a fly champ in Warren ourselves but most Americans don't seem to be fond of the little guys.

He kind of sounds like DLH: Gold medalist, went down a few times early in his career, also a huge media star. We seen where DLH went. Not at all suggesting Khan will turn out like him, but we can't be sure just yet. BTW I think DLH did look better early on, but there were still questions.

Good comparison, its a very similar situation.

Here is De La Hoya's pro debut to download, this is hype:

On the other hand, they haven't exactly been showering Andre Ward with praise and he was the only gold medalist on our 2004 team.
He fought on HBO early but didn't impress as much as they would've liked.

Well, our only other recent one of note was Audley Harrison.....its no surprise we like Khan, he at least is a bit good.

It's like all the chumps off of the contender, most of them were just fringe fighters but they all got blown up but the word overhyped never gets used with them guys.

Compare and contrast that with the Pavlik - Lockett fight, in what i believe was Pavlik's second title defense. Tons of Pavlik is top 5 P4P type threads and since then I have seen serious posts predicting Pavlik to defeat Hearns and Hagler, let alone Joe Calzaghe.
I like Pavlik, but he's no where near any of them yet. If him and Calz fight, I'd bet on Pavlik because he has youth on his side. Calz definitely has more skills though, but I don't know if he could make them work for him against Pavlik at this stage.

I like Pavlik too. Safe to say I think Joe would beat him, since I'm a Joe fan, but I do hope Pavlik does well.
