IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham made the 166 pound catch weight on the third try while Edison Miranda scaled in at 165 for their SHOWTIME-televised clash Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock LIVE Arena in Hollywood, Florida. Abraham initially weighed 166.5 but came back about 45 minutes later and weighed just over the limit. After removing his trunks, he made the weight dead on. Abraham's manager Wilfried Sauerland complained that Abraham was on weight using an identical scale and argued to no avail that the official scale was positioned incorrectly (laying across two wooden tiles). Regardless, Abraham made weight and the fight is on. Also, Raul Marquez and Giovanni Lorenzo both weighed 160 for their IBF middleweight eliminator, which will open the SHOWTIME telecast.
