Who'll be the king of the supermiddleweights in a year?

Joe Calzaghe is set to retire this year. A new chief of the 168 lbs must be found.

2 important fights takes place this weekend (Miranda-Abraham and Kessler-Sartison) and Bute is scheduled to defend his IBF-laurels in the early fall.

Middleweightchampion Kelly Pavlik is likely out of opponents at 160 and will probably be in the mix.

Who do you think will be the king come June next year?

I think Kessler is a good candidate. If Miranda wins against Abraham, he might make some more noise at SMW.

I'm not sure about Pavlik, I thought he wanted to stay at 160 for a while but you are right, there aren't really any quality opponents for him to face at 160.

I'd choose Kessler if I had to make a decision right now, but it depends if Pavlik moves up and takes on the Dane.

Lucian Bute Dude is sick, and people are still looking as if he is just a contender but he is the real deal.

Kelly Pavlik will take the crown - He beat Taylor at the catch weiht of 166 so the adjustment is in his favor. I hope he moves up in weight.

If Abraham defeats Miranda I'd say that Pavlik takes on him by the end of the year. After that the middleweightdivision seems void of talent, so I'd expect Pavlik campaigning in the more talented pool at 168 next year.

He's going to get knocked the **** out this week end by Abrahams and that will end the hype around Miranda hopefully once and for all. The guy broke someones jaw and couldn't even finish them off, and he made excuses say he felt bad hitting abrahams which is total bull**** because there are pictures of him hitting abrahams hard as hell on his clearly broken jaw. Miranda is the most overrated boxer in this sport, didn't Pavlik show that in his one-sided beat down of Miranda winning basically every single round against Miranda with Miranda just showing heart after get knocked down after knocked down. Heart can only get you so far in this sport but not at an elite level

If Kelly Pavlik moves up then he is the likely choice. But there are a lot of good boxers in that division.

It will be The Cobra. If the others grow some, and fight him.
