I'll give you the fact that Oscar De La Hoya was the reason his fight with Mayweather scored 2.4 million buys. Even if Oscar had never managed more than 1.4 million buys versus his other, more popular opponents, I think you'd have to be a blind fool to believe Oscar wasn't the more responsible fighter for the majority of that 2.4 million.

The myth that I have a problem with is the belief that Ricky Hatton was the reason his fight with Mayweather scored 850K buys. Look, the reason Mayweather-Hatton broke every single kind of British pay-per-view record WAS because of Ricky Hatton, but each one of those 850K American pay pew view buys was because they wanted to see Mayweather. No one in America, I repeat NO ONE in America knew about Hatton until after the Mayweather fight.

I guess you can argue that it was De La Hoya that enabled Mayweather to score such a high pay per view rate with Hatton, and that's fine, but any moron that believes that the fight with Hatton scored 850K buys because Americans wanted to see Hatton is out of touch with reality.
Hatton and Hoya both enjoyed their biggest paydays fighting Floyd.

Keep on dreaming that Floyd's name didn't help them.

LOL, I'll let this one slide since you didn't comprehend what I was saying. I'm a Mayweather fan defending Mayweather.

I think that the only reason that anyone bought the ppv fights for mayweather was to see get beaten.

They were still buying them to see Mayweather. Regardless of if they wanted to see him win or lose, they wanted to see him.
