Lou DiBella: "The Andre Berto Era Begins Saturday Night"

By Jake Donovan - It began as simply his first HBO Boxing After Dark headliner. Sure, undefeated welterweight contender Andre Berto had already appeared on the network several times before (this will be his 5th fight on the self-proclaimed Network of Champions). But this weekend was to belong to him, the last fight of the developmental stage before the 2004 Olympian seeks bigger game. [details]

"You have the number 1 and number 2 guys in the world fighting for a world title..."

Clearly you mean on the WBC ranks...SO DON'T OVER DO IT DIBELLA

"Obviously I leave Miguel Cotto off the list for now, because I don't see Cotto fighting my kid. Berto's a Beast!....

Clearly you meant: Obviously I won't put my kid with Cotto for now. Cotto's a Beast and would run all over him

Don't get me wrong, I like Berto but I just hate the hype game these promoters play with.

BERTO's CHIN HOLDS QUESTION AND ANSWER

Maybe now he will fight SOMEONE with a pulse.JESUS ,this kid wastes SLOT after SLOT on HBO fighting DEAD MEN-now he gets a shot at a belt against ANOTHER GUY I NEVER HEARD OF. With all the elite talent in this division leave it to DIBELLA to get his kid a title shot AGAINST ANOTHER BUM on HBO( AND THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO STILL BELIEVE DIBELLA DOESN'T HAVE ANY PULL WITH HBO,LETS SEE ANOTHER FIGHTER GET ON HBO ALMOST 10 TIMES AND STILL NEVER FACE SOMEONE IN THE TOP 15).MOSLY and JUDAH,LOU everyone knows JUDAH is no longer **** he's never BEATEN an elite fighter except SPINKS-but he still lost the first fight to SPINKS-that was his ONLY win over a GOOD HIGH CLASS opponent.TZU KO'D HIM IN 2,COTTO kod him in 11,MAYWEATHER and BALDIMIR beat him.My point is if they REALLY have so much confidence in BERTO(they prbably do just NONE in his CHIN)why are the big fights LOU DIBELLAS future star are being discussed to take part in are against a 37 yar old fighter and a a fighter NO LONGER in the top ten who loses everytime he steps up. What about PAUL WILLIAMS ,ANTONIO MARGIRITO,KERMIT CINTRON .The truth is BERTO was dropped and hurt against COSME RIVERA (a carrear journey man)and dropped twice and a hair bredth from his fight being stopped in the ameuteurs. His CHIN IS A BIG PROBLEM,and DIBELLA DOES NOT want BERTO to fce PUNCHERS AND THATS THE TRIPLE TRUTH ,RUTH.

I like Berto and I hope he steps his game up after he gets the belt. I'm still not convinced he can do it yet tho.

The Era begins when he wins the vacated WBC titl....and it ends when he steps in with a top 10 challenger .....WW is just too strong and deep for a flawed fighter like Berto
