Wouldn't it be better if Boxing was a sport again?

And not just a compilation of matchups? I mean, besides money, there's really nothing the fighters are fighting for. I'd love to see boxing tournaments, like in K1 Max. Every year you have a K1 Max Grand prix and you know who is the best every year! I mean, you really have the sense this guy i the real champion.
Every year all the top contenders qualify for a 8 men tourny and fight. They qualify through fighting each other, not matchmakers! Discuss.

I think it's the nature of the sport now because they have to dedicate themselves to a fight and they aren't always sure of a fight because of contract issues and whatnow. In Football (Soccer) they have Leagues and there put against people, same as in Tennis, Badminton, American Football (i think). Boxing has no League so they have no sure Payday and any fight could be their last.

They have no one else to rely on but themselves in the ring not a team and the unpredictableness of a fight often means they can suffer cuts etc.. which effects their personal health and the punches sustained can effect them later in life. That's why Boxing can't be like that.
