It's funny because he just shows up to the fights with a flag (which he all owns) and hopes he'll be able to carry it into the ring, so he's generally not hired pre-fight. I think I also read that he may get paid just enough to cover his expenses to the fight.
That's booty.. they hire a flag waiver for every fight.. It's always the same guy too, I've seen him wave the Filipines, The USA, Mexico, and Armenian flags all at different events!

You are right and I am wrong I guess The real question is who is AL Haymon?

HAYMON LAYS LOW, EARNINGS RUN HIGH AS GOOSE FRONTS

        Q. It seems I hear the name Al Haymon all the time, with Mayweather, Paul Williams, Antonio Tarver, Vernon Forrest, et. al. But I never see him doing internet chats or hogging a microphone at press conferences. Is the "Man Behind The Curtain" as you call him and why so secretive? Any reason he uses Dan Goossen as his front man? ELMO CHANCESKY, YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO.

        A. Al is media shy, I guess. He didn't even appear at the Boxing Writer's Awards to get his manager of the year trophy. My source, Deeptrout, reports a rumor that Haymon was a shadow adviser to President Richard M. Nixon when the Watergate scandal broke and has had a distrust of the media ever since. Why he uses Goossen? Maybe Al likes guys who wear cheap polyester suits or garish neckties, I don't know.

But their San Fernando Valley (Van Nuys, to be specific) offices are near each other. Someone else told me that Big Al is this close with Time Warner CEO **** Parsons and that Kery Davis is an Ivy League prot駩 of Haymon's, but I don't know if those are facts.

Bottom line is Haymon gets top dollar for himself and his boxers, so does his penchant for privacy matter? I can tell you his brother, Bobby Haymon was a decent 10-round fighter out of Cleveland who used to spar with someone named Thomas Hearns. Wonder whatever happened to that Hearns dude?
