after watching the fight for the hundredth time, i still see clazaghe losing the fight by two rounds. i see calzaghe looking like an amatuer and doing nothing effective, i see him getting caught in between his punches and i see calzaghe getting out maneuvered. i was at the fight live and not only me but the brits that were sitting around me thought that calzaghe lost, before they read the desicion they were all telling me that calzaghe looked like ****, and then afterwards, they were full of class and said that they thought hopkins got the **** end of the stick, and it wasn't only them either, other brits back at planet hollywood said the same thing to me when we were talking about the fight.
the fact remains, calzaghe got the win, did he really win the fight?? no, he won the academics of the fight according to the judges.
another thing i heard more than once from the brits that i talked to was, had the fight been in the uk, they were all telling me that hopkins probably would've won the fight because they were saying the judges over there score on damage and not uneffective aggression, and from when i was at the calzgahe fight with kessler in wales, i was there too watching that fight live, that fight was scored on damage and not uneffective aggression.
also to note, clazaghe looked like a champ against kessler, and looked like a confused amateur against hopkins who had no answers, other than to throw wildly and sway the judges. but the general consensus at the fight, even amoong honest brits is that, even they thought hopkins beat joe calzaghe.
and no matter how many times i watch it, i do not see calzaghe winning that fight, it was close but not a legitimate win. it was a gift..........
after the fight talking to vinny paz at the planet hollywood, he said it best about hopkins, he said that hopkins shot himself in the foot with the "white boy" comment, basically he said why piss off the white people who are the judges of your fight, makes sense, the reality is this, there shouldn't be bais in judging the fight, but we're humans and on some level can't control that ****, or don't want to...........
