I am not happy with Joe picking Jones Jnr over Pavlik.

    I'll make that clear now.

Pavlik is a much harder fight.

There's more money and legacy points for beating RJJ no matter how good Pavlik is.
And Enzo and Joe are fully aware of that aspect.

Kelly was full of praise because he is a respectable guy. Lockett was game, but only lasted two+ rounds because Pavlik was not in a rush.

Lockett will still favor his friend in any interview, but I bet in the back of his mind, he knows the hurt that Pavlik can bring without even loading up on a punch. Pavlik seemed to be working on some new stuff, looked totally relaxed and was having fun in there. Pavlik was actually holding himself back, he was mainly working on his timing and precision.

I'd rather him fight Pavlik but only to ruin the hype. Roy Jones is a bigger name with a bigger pay day, boxing is a business after all.

He might get the money (and more of it compared to Pavlik)

But he will NOT get the same respect.

Pavlik is the 160 champ and Cal is fighting at 175.

Pavlik is a good fighter, but were talking about a fight between someone who's been campaigning at middleweight for years now versus a guy who's been supermiddle for 15 years.
I know it's 10-15 pounds difference but you can bet that will be brought up if Joe beats Pav just like if Joe beats RJJ he's beaten a washed up ex-champ.

Joe will get respect if he beats either of those guys on the whole. RJJ is the money fight by a country mile.

I think Joe's legacy and popularity will be intact. If anything he has much more to lose fighting Pavlik then Jones but he gets respect if he beats either/or.

Lockett will go down in history as Enzo's measuring stick.

But he was able to land some clean hard shots against Pavlik. That might be telling, but I'm not sure.
