    how do you feel about..

money being an excuse to not fight someone..?

recently we have had mayweather dismiss a fight with cotto, based upon its not financially worth it.. instead choosing dlh..

we have joe calzaghe pondering fighting roy jones.. instead of choosing pavlik

we have a guy like kessler, stating , he will fight anyone, IF the price is right ,and such statements is now common used..

if we were to do the math on their finances, without being experts on their income, it would stil be safe to say, that their earnings by far exceeds the average wage, for the average worker.. right now both joe and may is easely set for life.

here in denmark the minimum wage for an adult is roughly 20 dollar pr hour, the hour pr week is about 40, working around 45 weeks a year and lets say working 40 years, that would mean, in a life time he would earn roughly 1,5 million dollar.

so my question, is the excuse, the money isnt there, really an acceptable excuse, when these guys in 1 fight, earns more then others do in a lifetime..?

in not having a go at the mentioned fighters, but simply using them as examples.

I understand wanting to secure yourself financially, but real fighters would want to fight the best and hardest fights available.

Whatever you want to say about Hatton, he is certainly one of those fighters who only wants to face the hardest challenges available to him.

i certainly do so too.. but when a guy in one fight can become a millionaire in dollars, isnt he already set for life..? isnt he financially secure.? im talking about the top guys of boxing here, not a journey man.. what did mayweather earn in his last fight,, clazaghe.. and so on and on..

and quite frankly just because you stop being a pro athlete, life doesnt stop,, it isnt illegal to take classes, graduate or perhaps work ;-)
