George Foreman was great and i'm not saying it again. You asked for one great fighter and its Foreman. He became the oldest heavyweight champion by beating an unbeaten 35-0 Moorer that held two heavyweight titles and was just coming off a win over EVANDER HOLYFIELD. This is the post where i explained all of that and i refuse to go over it again for an imbecil that know nothing about boxing. I honestly want the hour or so back that i wasted in this thread on you. You were simply not worth it. I take the most biased poster in this forum and expected to convince him of anything? What was i thinking? I'm out for now.

Larry Holmes did nothing other than upset a few contenders after Tyson. Holmes was also out of shape and was coming off of a two year lay off. He was not devoted nor did he train properly. Mercer was a green contender and never was the unified champion. After Holyfield beat Foreman, George beat Moorer(who again was the undisputed heavyweight champion that was coming off of wins over Holyfield and top heavyweight contenders). THAT is your difference and what you fail to ackowledge. Foreman became the undisputed champion after his loss to Holyfield. Thats what makes it a legit win over a great fighter.

Why didn't Tyson fight any of the elite name fighters in his era? Fighters that presented a real challenge such as Riddock Bowe, Ray Mercer, peak Holyfield peak Lewis or even Tommy Morrison? Was that careful match making on the part of Tyson's management?

He faced the elite in his early career although they weren't notable fighters just good solid ones like Bonecrusher Smith, Frank Bruno, Berbick, Tony Tucker, Pinklon Thomas, Tyrell Biggs, Old Larry Holmes, Tony Tubbs, Micheal Spinks.

After his Prison Sentence he fought Lewis, Evander but never was the force that he was when he was young. Those fighters weren't around when Tyson was young though.

Well while Tyson was fighting 42 to 1 underdog, journeyman Buster Douglas, Holyfield already had 5 fights at HW after unifying the CW division, and Foreman was 20-0 (19) and was coming off brutalizing Cooney in 2. Nice job ducking those two Mike, how'd it work out for you?

When Tyson fought Holmes, Larry hadn't had a fight in 21 months. Had he fought Foreman instead of Douglas, George would've had 12 fights over the same 21 month period. Gee, I know which fight I'd rather take. I didn't mention that Holmes was coming off back to back losses, because the second fight with Spinks was very controversial.
