Roy Jones VS Joe Calzaghe

I picked him.
I'd ****in LOVE to see Roy box circles around Joe.
Even if Calzaghe won he will NEVER be thought of in the same light as Roy was in the 90s.Comment

Probably not. I'm not too fussed about him fighting Roy TBH.
Bottom line is that right now Joe IS what Roy was in the 90s, the unbeatable guy at SMW/ LHW. He'll never get the same praise as Roy though, because he doesn't have that same incredible style that makes him stand out so much above his peers.Comment

Calzaghe should take the Pavlik fight. Beating Kelly, the undisputed middleweight champion, would mean far more than beating an old, past it Roy Jones Jr. Its amazing how he doesnt see that himself.Probably not. I'm not too fussed about him fighting Roy TBH.

Well, we'll have to wait and see what actually happens. No fight is announced and we've had contradictory messages from both camps now.
The thing about boxing is that names live on, and RJJ is a big one. I wanted the Pavlik fight because of all that 'young prime champ' stuff, but I still thought Joe would beat him easy. If he did, who knows what would happen to Pavlik. No-one knows exactly how good he is because he's so young and it's perfectly feasible he could go the Lacy route or even just wind up a win some lose some kind of guy like Jermain Taylor. Either way after a loss to JC he would lose a hell of a lot of sparkle.
Thing is, in the end, I'm not sure boxers really do care about 'legacy' as much as we fans do. Calzaghe know how good he is, he doesn't need anyone to tell him. He's probably just taking the best purse that's on the table.
I still hope we might see both fights though.Comment

I like Roy, but I had to vote against him. Classic signs of a boxer getting too old. Still believes in his head that hes as good as he ever was, but his body is slowing down. With his stubborness they will probably have to retire him eventually before he gets hurt.Comment

I voted Joe...
anyone else think this could be a bit of a war? i cant imagine either of them backing down, it will be slow in parts but i think we re gonna see 2 guys stood in the middle of the ring trying to kill each other
