    Ummm...no.

More like Lockett was like, "damn, I'm a bum! What the hell am I doing here?"

Please forget about the Lockett fight. That was like a fighter versus a heavy bag. If you wanna critique Pavlik, use his two Taylor fights. The first, where Taylor was one punch away from making Pavlik a pretender (but didn't have the stamina - in the second round...wow). And in the rematch where they fought very close until the end. THAT'S a better barometer of Pavlik.

Highly unlikely...If that circus act Pavlik fights Joe, it will be Calzaghe-Lacy v2 all over again..that 1-2 jab, right hand nonsense will not beat Joe...Oh "Pavlik has a high work rate"....****, so does Joe but I would rather watch this fight than that senior citizen Jones attempting to relive his glory years.

No one gains anything by fighting Jones now. I think that Jones should become a gate-keeper so that future prospect can get their resume looking nice & spiffy by adding his soon to be worthless name on to it.

As long as Pavlik and Arum are being reasonable in negotiations, Calzaghe should fight Pavlik. Anything else is a big let-down.
Clegg, Pav is at 160, and 40Cal is at 175. I think we can wait for this fight. It isn't happening next. Pav has unfinished business at 160. He also has not even beat a 168 lb fighter yet either. I can't believe some of the posts i've read. Floyd and 40Cal cowards...lol. Comical. I'm not saying you said this. It's just unbelievable. There should be laws for stating an assinine(not yours) opinion on anything, let alone 2 H.O.f fighters being scared lol.

I'm not giving any credit to this news, it's Calzague's camp playing tricks all over.

The Roy Jones fight is on the table for months already and if it was what they really wanted they would have had something donne by now.

Truth is Pavlik is plan A, the fight Joe wants, while Roy is plan B, a good fight in case plan A is out of reach.

Anyway, I think Joe will still fight Roy early in 2009 in case he beats Pavlik. Too much money to pass on.

Expect this negotiations to drag on for another month, at least, before something is donne.

"Kelly needs more fights" What a revelation.

Calzaghe has no chance against Pavlik. Calzaghe struggled against an old Bernard Hopkins. Kelly brutalized Jermain Taylor who beat Hopkins twice and Miranda. Calzaghe was considering fighting what happened? Didnt he already know Pavliks record before now? All the sudden he had a revelation that Kelly needs to build his record? No what happened his his dad and Lockett gave Calzaghe a first hand account of why they need to quickly decide to face Jones.

                  Calz is scared!!!!!!

                  Calz

"A lot of people would love to see it. However,at this point, I think its unlikely. I'm not sure if Pavlik really wants to face me at the moment," Calz told BBC Sport. "He would have little to gain because I believe I would definitely beat and, with respect to Gary Lockett, I would be a step-up too far for Pavlik"

                  Pavlik

"Whoever they throw in front of me, thats up to Top Rank. I leave that up to them," Pavlik told HBO Max Kellerman after the fight. " I wouldnt mind facing Arthur Abraham, Joe Calzaghe,Bernard Hopkins, whoever. Pavlik asks the crowd "Calzaghe is that what you want"

                  Conclusion

Lockett Calzaghe fans bias as hell. Pav will beat him just like Lockett I liked Calzaghe till his last fight and latest comments.

Why didn't Calzaghe fight RJJ 10 years ago ? Why not Tarver 5 yrs ago ? Why not Glen Johnson in the last 2 Decades ? SCARED ASS WELSH!!!!

I think boxing fans want to see good fights, not undefeated fighters steamrolling tomato cans! I'd watch a Miguel Huerta fight over a lot of undefeated fighters anyday, and he has a "blemished" record.

I think its very clear that Calzaghe doesnt want to fight Pavlik, and why he doesnt.

JOE DOESN"T!!!
You fella's don't seem to look at anything deeper than your subjective opinion, and then rant all day as it's it fact.

A decent amount of people in and outside boxing, and most on here, give Pavlik and Jones reasonably similar chances against beating Calzaghe. Reasons being fella's, styles makes fights. An absolutley massive factor in determining a winner (Hops fight demonstrated it recently) yet you don't mention it, let alone factor it into your rants of Calzaghe not wanting Pavlik cos he'd lose, and fighting an old Roy cos he'd win.

Pavlik's come forwards, straight punches style is suited to Calzaghe, this showed in beating Kessler. He can move around, duck, roll his head, time coming in/going out, and punch at different angles, with better speed. He wouldn't get him much, if he did he's handled big shots from Mitchell and similarly powered Kessler on his iron chin, and would enable himself to hit Pavlik at will.

This is why Calzaghe is confident he can beat Pavlik, he's never ducked anyone and is choosing of the fights open to him, and has not chosen the easier one. He says this openly guys, and many agree, so quit making stuff up to suite your view. Pavlik would have a better chance against Calzaghe next year when he'd be a better skilled boxer, and have more intelligence to his game, Calzaghe with his words clearly recognises this and is willing to risk fighting a younger Roy now, then an older closer to prime Kelly next year, possibly, and that's impressive.

Roy has the attributes and style that could challenge Calzaghe on all of his strength area's like to an extent no other fighter has before. His speed is still good, and not dissimilar to Joes, whom is regarded extremely fast, who else can say this? Pavlik, no. His movement is good, he can punch quickly at various angles like Joe can, so it is in no way as easy a fight for Joe to roll with and win, as it would be with Pavlik. Joe's no spring chicken he's about 37, Roy will be 39, big deal. There's a clear proven game plan for Joe to beat someone like Pavlik again and adapt in some area's, with Roy that's not so much the case, he can challenge Joe on most if not all of the same fronts, be competitive, and brings super ring intelligence, style a solid all round boxing game to the fight.

Calzaghe is smart after getting dropped in Rd 1 by Hopkins

Calzaghe is smart; after getting dropped in Rd 1 by Hopkins he now knows that he hasnt fought the best fighters in his career. In his own words "Bernard Hopkins (an old BHOP I might add) was his toughest fight." BHOP is good.. great in his prime but is no where near as dangerous as Pavlik. Calzaghe not going to get in the ring with a beast like Pavlik. Lockett was a test to see where he stood.. now he knows where he stands and wants no parts of Pavlik. If you havent noticed.. No one is calling out Kelly Pavlik.
