I dont agree. most people did talk about his right hand more so than his jab and rightfully so. his right hand was better. he had a good jab but tended to paw with it a lot and wasnt always consistant with it from fight to fightComment

His right was very very underated.
i remember lampley telling him about w. Klitschko "u had a jab better then him, but his right might be a little better"
lewis "i don't know about that" hahaha classicComment

nope.
everyone thinks lennox had a hell of a right hand.
his power is well regarded.
it's his chin that is underrated. everyone thinks lennox had no chin but it was pretty okay. mccall and rahman just caught him as flush as can be......and those two can really ****.Comment

Lewis was a very hard hitter but i would say that his power is rated just fine. I was more impresed with his boxing ability than his power alone. The fact that he had a combination of both is what was so great about him. There are few heavyweights that i wold favor over a peak Lennox Lewis.Comment

Average power for a small heavyweight? 6'5 and 240+ pounds is small? Interesting, especially since Lewis is known for being one of the biggest and most skilled heavyweight champions of all time. You couldn't be talking about Joe LOUiS either becuase he is voted best as the best puncher of all time by the ring magizine.Comment

I think he had definite power, his problem was sometimes application; both Holyfield fights are examples. In the first he had Holyfield particularly bothered on the ropes, and failed to unload. He dropped in a couple of right hands, but he didn't really let his hands go properly and do the damage he might've done. I think he showed tremendous respect for Evander. In the second fight again he played more in the role of chess player. Whereas in the fights with Golota, Grant and Briggs he was happy to give 'em both barrels and his power was evident. Briggs is no china-chin, not back then he wasn't anyway, and Lewis' right hand knocked him senseless, especially the booming one to the temple which I think was either the second or third knockdown.
Anyway, to answer your question, yes I think in general his power is a little underrated. That right hand, when delivered properly, could have knocked out virtually any one. I point to the second Rahman fight as example of his lethalnessComment
