the only way a winky wrigt fight is boring is if the other guy runs... like hopkins.....

it amuses teh **** out of me how people say winky hasnt adjusted his style to please fans......

please, bitches, that right there proves how ****ING IGNORANT you are...

Winky as a prospect was known as a power puncher, after he fought JC Vazquez he changed his style to a more defensive slick type of style, which is when he made a name for himself as a boring fighter EVEN I dont think he was very exciting...because his fights were long and monotonous but i wouldnt say winky was boring, he usually threw a lot and he moved a lot witout getting to the point of running......

when he came to the US, Winky changed his style to the one he uses now, though hes been perfecting it ever since......and when people who had already seen winky fight saw his new style, everyone noticed it was to be more exciting......since then, hes had 3 FOTY candidates, vs Vargas, Mosley and Taylor..........in all 3 of them Winky was the aggressor.....

    educate yourself, bitches
Hyperion, your post is full of facts and fiction.

i know ouma was feared......i think winky may have had doubts if ouma's style wasnt suited to exploit the shell(which is that your consistency is compromised)....

but fact is he beat candelo(his mandatory), then took hernandez(he had already cleared his mandatory),then mosley, then trinidad.....

if teh trinidad fight had not popped up, he wouldve fought ouma....and beat him 120-108....

i said he wasnt exciting...learn to read please....

and i never said his style is not influenced by anyone...wink has said so lots of times...but how he executes it is damn near perfect to avoid Clean Punches.....

and if you know how to score fights, you know clean and effective punching is one of the 4 criteria to score fights......landing clean effective punches is what makes your aggression effective and not getting hit with them is what also makes your defense effective.......

thats why winky always says he wins...and i agree mostly......i think on points the vazquez fight was a draw...but thats not counting the attrocious referee taht allowed vazquez to throw 20 rabbit punches a round

I'd rather watch my grandmother knit a blanket, rather than watch Winky fight. He's ****ing BORING to watch.

If you watch a lot of Winky's old fights, his style clearly did change. He was a Cory Spinks boxer and mover in his very early fights, who actually did pack a decent punch (although he only showed that punch against homeless fighters).

His style first changed in the Vargas fight, where he did mix in his gloves up guard, but he still did have a decent bit of movement... which actually was his best combination IMO, if he could still move like that, he would almost never be beat.

Somewhere in between Vargas and Taylor, he started utilizing less movement. It probably was a gradual thing, but... it happened. He was a rock with his gloves up and relied on counters to score.

His style switched AGAIN in the Taylor fight. He seemed less reluctant to risk his chin to deliver his own ****. He threw a lot more than he had previously against Taylor, and followed that up with a 1000 punch performance against Ike Quartey.

No one should take anything from the Hopkins fight, because Hopkins did what he always does... ruins the fight by freezing it with holding, and throwing the most perfectly timed counterpunches in the sport to score points.

The fact that Hopkins threw one punch (or a few) at a time and then held, hurt Wright's workrate a lot, so it does seem like he is boring if that is the fight that is sticking in your mind.

But don't believe for second that Winky started out being the gloves up guard counterpuncher that he is now. He was a slick southpaw for sure who utilized as much movement as anyone in the sport. Now, he is a rock.

Oh yeah, and for sure... Oscar is not ducking Winky.

Winky is coming off of a loss, and everyone wants to fight Oscar.

In realistic terms, the winner of Cotto/Margarito is much more deserving of a payday from Oscar than Wright at this current moment, as much as I hate to say it.

Hey Wink go eat a dozen Krispy Kreme's and call it a day. Wink you ain't a draw and your style sucks. Nobody wants to watch De La Hoya go out fighting a boring fighter like yourself LOL.

What you should do is get your ass in shape and stop complaining about your delusional pay day. Put the Donuts down, stop pricing yourself out and take what Arum is willing to give you against Pavlik.
