was sugar ray robinson really that great????

i mean compare him and david haye for example:

sugar ray robinson had 19 losses

    the hayemaker has one loss

sugar ray robinson was TKO'd once

    haye has been TKO'd once

ray robinson fought in a weak and traditonally poor division in a primitive and clumsy era with no sports science, proper nutrition, training techniques etc

haye is fighting with all these new things and is fighting in a deep and decorated division, cruiserweight

so i guess if you were ranking them on all time p4p scale, haye might be a bit ahead of sugar ray i mean look at the losses ray robinson had and in a poor era also!!!!

You can't compare Haye and Robinson. You shouldn't even say their names in the same sentance

Ray Robinson had something like 200 fights, 173 wins and EVERY time he lost, he beat the opponent in a rematch, until he was 40 years old, when washed up, he lost to some guys he would have destroyed in his day.

He also won world titles at welterweight and middleweight, fought for the light heavyweight title and was in title contention, unbelievably, almost until his final fight.

I am no expert on the man, but those who saw him box say he was the greatest ever, and his record alone proves he is undoubtedly one of them.

You have to realise that all those fights Robinson had, he HAD them, its no good just saying "oh they fought more back then", it doesn't change the fact that he was able to do what no boxer nowadays would even attempt.

                Don't worry, he's only 14.

The kid has a lot to learn but he's got a lot of time.
