It was reported yesterday by MaxBoxing/BoxingScene.com's Rick Reeno, that Oscar De La Hoya would likely scrap a potential fight plan for September due to the unforeseen retirement of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Prior to Mayweather's announcement, the plans was for De La Hoya to fight three times and then retire before the start of 2009. He planned to fight Mayweather in September and then a career-ending bout in December. Reeno was advised that De La Hoya would instead push his fight back, maybe until November and only fight one more time before retirement. [details]

de la Hoya better not fight pacquiao, that fight would be so ******, they need to stop throwing Manny Pac's name in the mix man, Cotto/Marg winner is the opponent plain simple and it makes the most sense of a fight..pacquia is lke 5' 5" and is fighting at 135 for the first time coming now...De La Hoya wont go lower than 147Comment

"Floyd lost his shot." Oscar is the true clown of the sport! Pacquiao? Looks like he was playing hardball in negotiations with Floyd and missed out on his payday aswell! Probably didn't want 2 drop 2 147, wanted Floyd 2 wear bigger gloves again, smaller ring, & anything else CHAMPIONS are supposed 2 demand! I hope Floyd steps on his neck by cutting in line for the Cotto/Margie winner since that is his TRUE class! The least Oscar could do is fight some one his own size! Overrated/Overhyped Buttboy! GO AWAY!Comment

1.) These guys haven't beaten Oscar already
2.) These guys are not the number one pound for pound fighters like Floyd was
3.) They will fight one fight vs. DLH and then get back to the welters, not stay away from 147 for 2 years plus.
4.) With Floyd gone there is no bigger fight (like what cotto represented for Floyd).
The situation is WAY different. Reason number one being the most important, number 4 is pretty big too.Comment
