By Cliff Rold - With a mandatory title shot against IBF Jr. Middleweight titlist Verno Phillips all but guaranteed going in, 29-year old 2000 U.S. Golden Gloves and 2001 U.S. Amateur champion Sechew Powell (23-2, 14 KO) of Brooklyn, New York was sent back to the drawing board on Wednesday night at the Hard Rock Times Square in New York City. The man who sent him there was unheralded 22-year old Deandre Latimore (19-1, 16 KO), a St. Louis, Missouri native who certainly earned some herald in an excellent back and forth struggle between hungry young contenders. The two southpaws came in under the division limit of 154, Powell at 153 ½ lbs., Latimore at 152 ¾. [details]
