The division is wide open right now, I don't think there is a best.

Joachim Alcine or Sergei Dzindziruk althought Ring Magazine had Vernon Forrest at #1 and Mora beat Forrest...

There is no 'man' at 154. If I had to pick someone, I'd say Oscar is the best. Dzindziruk is good, so is Alcine, Simms, I guess Mora, Spinks and Phillips are good fighters too.

Oscar's way past prime and I'd pick him over all these guys.

I really can't believe they robbed Spinks like thatt though. That fight was clearly lopsided as hell in Spinks' favor but, it's definitely be a toss-up between Spinks and Oscar De La Hoya as the two men at JMW.

dont discount the punching power of James Kirkland .... one of the most exciting fighters ive seen in ages .... lets see some more of him but have him decently matched so we can see if he can handle being tested at a decent level ..... i hope he isnt gonna be "Frank Warren'd" !!!!! ( matched at a consistently low level then put in for vacant belt!!!)

I don't have a problem with people picking 5 or 6 different guys as the top dog. 154 is probably one of the hardest weight classes to figure out at the moment. Alcine and Dzindziruk are talented but not big names, Phillips is getting up there in age at 38 or 39 so I don't expect him to hold onto the IBF belt for much longer. I believe Mosley could move up and make some noise for year or two. De La Hoya is on the way out but he could potentially beat any of the top 10. Young guns like Kirkland and Angulo will make things interesting when they move into the top 10.

It's really tough to say. It's so close.
