Oppinions and thoughts of such a promising amateur who didn't quite live up to expectations?

Breland was a star before he even got tot he pros...he already starred in a movie....its sad what a waste of talent...this is an example of believing the press clippings.

    he had so much potential.

Hell of a talent, but he's not the first heavily hyped amateur to fail at the pro level, and won't be the last.

Donald Curry and Mark Breland could have been a classic.Curry would win late, but Breland's jab would give Don problems.

Although a wasted talent, he still achieved a fair amount of success. I thought he was unlucky to get a draw in the rematch with Starling.

I actually had the privelage of watching him fight live, when I saw possibly his career best performance when he knocked out Lloyd Honeyghan in 3 rounds. Tall and skinny but boy could he punch hard.

Breland's problem was that despite being a very sharp & lethal puncher, he lacked a lot of physical strength....& could be manhandled.
Marlon Starling was a pro's pro, whose defense & skills negated Breland's long-range power. When Starling got inside on Breland, it was man vs. boy.
