Christ, what a war. What a display of toughness by Escalera, knocked down three times in the bout and battling back tremendously. Brutal stoppage.

Excellent fight.

I'm in the minority here, but I actually didn't care that much for the first fight. It was bloody, but the action itself was disappointing from what I expected.

The rematch, however, was very good.

I've actually never seen footage of the first fight. How bad was the cut(s) which forced the stoppage?

Great stuff. Escalera is one of the more underrated fighters I can think of. He was tough as ****. I still haven't seen the Everett fight. Too bad what happened to Everett. He was supposed to be a very talented fighter.

No kidding, how often do you see a guy knocked down twice with one eye fighting back at such a blistering pace. He was going all-out win or lose, but Arguello almost decapitated him with that left hook in the 13th.

I believe his lip had actually seperated from his mouth.

He also had bad, deep gashes under & over both eyes.
Can't remember how many stitches he got but it was a lot.

Amazingly he actually coming on in the last couple of rounds before the stoppage.
