Why am I not surprised Calzaghe fought this guy. I'm surprised these Brits aren't hyping this guy up and going on and on about Joke beating a guys wins over Duran and Benitez...

And he also fought Camacho, Calzaghe, and Vinny Paz. The man has been in the ring with some of the best.

Beat Duran in '91 but lost to the fattened up version in 2000...very strange.

Yea i remember Lawlor at least a little, he beat some greats and then started losing to really mediocre position. When he beat Duran and Benitez alot of people had high hopes for him.

I remember when he got what was called a hometown gift against Art Serwano in 1991. In case you don't remember Serwano, he was the guy who started almost convulsing against Roy Jones.

Lawlor was tough though. He really took his beating like a man against Norris. Norris was levels ahead of him and kept hitting him with every thing, but Lawlor just kept taking them and asking for more.

At one point I think he was rated by an organization, but was outclassed when he faced John David Jackson for the WBO belt.

He's a funny, personable guy. Back at the boxing awards in Northern California, they used to always make jokes about him being a drunk who loves pizza and beer.

They'd be like "where is Pat Lawlor? Is he still standing?"

Lawlor beat Duran on the undercard of Tyson-Ruddock I. Duran had a shoulder or bicep injury. Lawlor also beat Benitez. Lawlor was modest and said he just beat the names, as they were shells of what they once were,

                LOL, quality resume.

It's not about winning, it's about how much you can keep getting hit, and move forwards.
