Quintana didn't CHOSE to give williams a rematch, he HAD too because the contract had an immediate rematch clause, if he didn't William's promoter could have taken legal actions and he would have got stripped of the belt.
The first fight was a close decision win for Carlos Quintana, Williams was no where in a good shape, not making excuses but its effin true, he was 164 pounds on fight night where in the rematch he was 155 lbs on fight night, almost 10 pounds less. he threw less than half the punches he usually does and he did not counterpunch like he did in the second fight, Honestly guys that first fight was more because of Williams underestimating Quintana rather anything, he figured him out in the second fight where he was more patient with his punches and only landing the meaningful ones. He also sat down on his punches, Dont forget he was a BIG favourite to win the first fight and everyone expected a blowout.
Even his team said he didn't spar any southpaws, this shows that they thought Quintana was walk in the park for them and they dearly paid for it, big time.
The second fight was a total blowout by a first round TKO. I dont know what you guys think but when a figher loses by a first round TKO, I dont think a rematch happens, and again Quintana didn't chose to give him a rematch, he had too, he had no other option whereas Williams does have an option because he didn't sign any contract for an immediate rematch.
Bottom line is a third fight would be pointless:
Quintana UD Williams (115-113)
Williams TKO Quintana 1
Williams after the first fight: "I wasn't prepared well but I take this loss and put it behind me, ill put some work back in the gym for the rematch."
Quintana after the second fight: "I was in the best shape of my career for the second fight with Paul Williams, even better than the first fight."
