The sport isn't dying necessarily. Just going through a serious recession. It needs a serious spark. UFC is about to sign a contract with Fox. I remember when I was 8 or 9 seeing fights on CBS and NBC still sometimes during the afternoons. I never see that anymore. Unless its ESPN Classic or on VS. The local gym here in Perth Amboy had a full sized boxing ring at one point - what has that room been turned into? You guessed it, an MMA gym where they teach kickboxing and jiu jitsu. **** sucks! Now they just have a room with four heavy bags, an assortment of gloves thrown on the floor, a few jumpropes, a few free weights and some other random boxing gear. It hurts my feelings to be completely honest. Seeing the large area of the floor that used to be a perfectly good ring covered in mats makes me throw up.

wow i guess we are losing the future if we dont get boxing more visual for our kids of this generation....THEN WE MAY NOT HAVE A FUTURE

My two nephews that are Puerto Rican are big into Cotto because there father. They'll put my gloves on and box eachother. They are 8 and 9 but they are the only two kids I've ever really seen be into it like that. My oldest nephew is half Filipino and half Puerto Rican and he only cares if Manny Pacquiao is fighting because his father is into him huge. Outside of that Pac fights he doesn't give a **** for the sport. I honestly want my kids to box to keep them out of trouble. If kids are doing what they're doing in 2008 I don't want to know what they'll be doing in 2015 or so. My girlfriend totally won't agree to it but I don't give a ****. My kids are going to box. LOL.
