    By FightFan.com Staff (08-Jun-2008)

Manny Pacquiao now no. 1 in FightFan.com's pound-for-pound rankings!

With Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s announced retirement, FightFan.com has elevated former no. 2 ranked Manny Pacquiao to the number one pound-for-pound fighter in all of boxing. Pacquiao, who will fight for the 135 pound title later this month after debuting at 106 pounds in 1995, has consistently been fighting the sport’s top fighters since 2003. He has dominated from super bantamweight to super featherweight. Pacquiao’s lengthy path through the best fighters in three different divisions coupled with his emphatic stoppage victories over legendary fighters like Marco Antonio Barrera and Eric Morlaes have solidified the Filipino terror’s place atop of FightFan.com’s pound-for-pound list. While other top choice Joe Calzaghe has had quite a run in the last two years, he simply does not stack up to boxing’s most electrifying sensation in Manny ‘The Pacman’ Pacquiao.

    FightFan.com P4P List

    1. Manny Pacquiao (46-3-2, 35 KO)

    2. Joe Calzaghe (45-0, 32 KO)

    3. Juan Manuel Marquez (48-4-1, 35 KO)

    4. Israel Vasquez (42-4, 31 KO)

    5. Miguel Cotto (32-0, 26 KO)

    6. Ivan Calderon (31-0, 6 KO)

    7. Bernard Hopkins (48-5-1, 32 KO)

    8. Kelly Pavlik (34-0, 30 KO)

    9. Winky Wright (51-4-1, 25 KO)

    10. Rafael Marquez (37-4, 33 KO)

Of course they did. As should everyone else. #1 retires, #2 takes his spot. Anything else is just ****** imo.

Thats good. Manny Pac has done enough to solidify his position for #1 P4P. Hes done enough, and is continuing to fight solid fighters unlike some other P4P fighters.

I think Pavlik should be higher, he knocked out Taylor in three then boxed his ears off in the second fight and Jermaine beat Hopkins twice.
