JOHN RUIZ was born and currently lives in the US but he lived for years in PR..when he won his title he went to PR to celebrate.he consider himself PR.

      see the point.
according to the other dude you have to be born in the country as well. So from his pt. of view margarito isn't mexican.

          Born and Raised and Fought

Sorry but I had to use the italics/bold to get your attention on that. Ricky Hatton can learn spanish language and take a mexican flag to the ring, does that make him a mexican? Well I guess you know the answer...My point is not anyone who speaks spanish or has the flag, the fighter at the end of the day have an American nationality, THEREFORE are considered Americans, doesn't matter what there ancestors were or are, its about THEM, not their parents or grandparents.

But margarito doesn't fit your description. He was born in california, is he still mexican? Your description is that a fighter has to be "born AND raised AND fought" in their respective country.

Luevano is mexican..puerco ricans were born us citizens and live in an americanize society with benefits..give it up..puerco ricans are americans and can fight in the US olympic teams..how is that not american. Can luevano fight in the English Olympic team? no right..he is not english yet puerco ricans can fight in the US olympic team...what does that tell you..anyways...it looks like the margarito and Jotto fight will be the tie breaker for puerco ricans vs mexicans...it'll be 2-2 for 2008 after luevano ko's santiago...
