Im thinking about three specific fighters out there who are trying to get big fights: Jones, Pavlik and Joe. I think that each of them can beat the other.
Joe vs Jones: Joe is not a pressure fighter and not a power puncher, he is a mix between a pressure fighter and counter puncher. Jones biggest problem is against power punching pressure fighters. If Jones takes the same plan as Hopkins he would be able to execute it more skillfully and win the fight.
Jones vs Pavlik: This is pretty much a nightmare match up for Jones. Recently in fights, even against the much smaller Trinidad, Jones as been going to the ropes. He can't afford to do this against Pavlik. Pavlik is basically Jones' Achilles heel (other than Tarver).
Pavlik vs Joe: Pavlik takes straight shots, which he sees coming and rolls with, very well (like the Miranda fight) but he can be hurt by punches that he doesnt see coming. Calzagne is a master of throwing punches in weird angles, and is the bigger guy. He also has a great track record against people who pressure him. I think he will frustrate Kelly on route to a win.
Agree? Disagree?
