    Emanuel Steward's comment = offensive

I was actually pretty shocked when he was talking about both Cotto and Lopez being fathers at young ages.

Steward (loosely translated from memory): "I have noticed that Latinos and Mexicans are very comfortable with marriage and are very family oriented, unlike the other ethnic fighters we see."

Ummm wow... so apparently Steward feels like black fighters aren't keen to get married and aren't family oriented. Sweet.

Nah, he was talking about the maturity of both Cotto and Juan Manuel Lopez, and he was attributing it to the fact that they both had kids at an early age and were married at one point (in Cotto's case, Juan Manuel still is married).

I would personally be offended if Hillary Clinton said that white people were less family oriented than Latinos... I don't give a **** if she is white.

I think he was talking about American fighters of ethnic heritage, which not only includes Black people, but Chicanos and Puerto-Rican Americans as well. Those people that he felt were comfortable with marriage were the non-American "Latinos and Mexicans", actually citizens of thier respective countries.

didn't hear it so i don't know what context it was in.

was he saying that to say boxers that have kids early are more responsible? because they have kids they're more mature? maybe train better 'cause since they have families they're not out partying with their posse?
