lol Just out of curiosity did anyone actually pick Ponce to win tonight? I mean it was fun to watch him obliterate someone like Bautista, but DeLeon's always had that Amatuerish style. Bautista is just way too weak and fragile for De Leon. And De Leon is lacking way too much skill to be a reigning champ. I think him and Penalosa should go at it again, just for the sake of it bein unfinished business.
They said Ponce looked huge in the ring? Is it just me or did Lopez look just as big, if not bigger? lol Dude has a wing span of a ****in lightweight. I bet he could move up to lightweight tomorrow and have some decent success up there.
But Lopez is gonna reign for a long time, with the exception of Jhonny Gonzalez and Vasquez, there's really no one down there thats a threat. Gonzalez is probably the most capable, but he's way too timid and shy to muscle out a win over Lopez. Vasquez eats way too many shots, he has his entire career. There's Abner Mares too, but he'd definantly need to bring some great head movement if he wants to make Lopez pay. But out of those 3 the best fights would be with Jhonny and Abner.
Anyways, sooner or later Mexico needs to do like Puerto Rico, get the black kids to fight for em. Get some of their black kids to make the Mexican fight game that much broader in talent. All of Puerto Ricos black fighters like Lopez are beasts, broad shoulders, long reaches, and ridiculous leverage. Mexico needs to put a tap on their black talent. Get some scouts down there, put some gloves on em, and give em oppertunity of a life time.
You know, as talented as Mexicans are as is, it's kind of hard to believe theres ANOTHER gate of talent to be opened. They need to open that **** and give some new blood and some new kids an oppertunity to shine bright.
