The first fight was not a fluke

Quintana had perfect movement, always using angles, blasting Williams with straight lefts and his movement confused the hell out of him. If he were to face a constant mover like Mayweather he'd get confused and couldn't land.

Quintana stood pretty much right in front of him for the rematch. Williams came out blasting, but if he did that with someone with good defense (Mayweather) he wouldn't land. I'm not convinced that Williams can deal with movers.

That being said, the first fight between Williams and Margarito was not a fluke. Williams showed a good workrate and Maragrito does not have movement. Margarito did show some stuff that roughed up Williams, which is why I could see Cotto beating Williams.

Basically, Mayweather or any mover with good defense could beat Williams. It'd be interesting to see how he would do against Collazo, even though they sparred together. Also, the win over Margarito was not a fluke. The loss over Quintana was not a fluke.

Good post no matter what anyone says.

Williams as he said was more than likely having an "off" night. Bottom line he came back with a viscous knock out. If you noticed Quintana also got inside from what I remember and if coarse made Williams fight a little. Quintana just fought a clean & cautious fight the first time, and maybe thought it would be the same the second time. Maybe he felt Williams power wouldn't be enough judging from the first fight, so he wasn't expecting that KO.

And Margarito always seemed to start slow until recently and he doesn't always box an opponent well when they keep their distance, good examples would be Williams and Clottey.

Another misconception about Margarito-Williams is that Margarito started off to a slow start. I think Margarito was just overwhelmed by Williams workrate and couldn't get started.
