Pavlik is one of my favorites, he lives in Ohio and i live in Pittsburgh which is only a few miles away. I have been to youngstown plenty of times on special occasions. I have nothing against him and i just said that he looked great. but against who? You knocked Dawson for fighting bums as soon as he won the title, even though he only has 26 fights. Pavlik has 34 wins and you praise him for demolishing Garry Who?

He was Pavlik's WBO mandatory. He didn't choose to fight him, he had to fight him, to keep the WBO title.

Jesus Ruiz was a voluntary, hand-picked opponent. At least Lockett was ranked #27 on BoxRec and around there in the IBO ratings. Jesus Ruiz was not even in the top 50.

Why do you approve of Ruiz, and disapprove of Lockett?

Pavlik was amazing tonight? He should have looked so given he was fighting a poor excuse for a title contender. Almost as pointless a fight as Cotto-Gomez.

Who should he have been fighting? I'm fine with the occasional resume fodder, as all champions do it, but this is a fight in particular where there also weren't a whole lot of options given the other fights that have been made.

Dawson started his career at middleweight and says that he is willing to fight at 168 if there is no big fights at light heavyweight.

Ruiz was ranked top 15 at the time. People disgreed with it, but thats where he was ranked. Just watch Dawson against Ruiz. Al Bernstein stated it. Dawson also didn't hand ''pick'' Ruiz, he had a contract to fight on that day and Paul Briggs didn't want to face Dawson. Ruiz was the only fighter that wanted a shot.
