The only thing standing in the way is Pavlik’s fight with Gary Lockett, Saturday night in Atlantic City (HBO, 10:05PM ET), in which the champ will not only have to win, but escape unscathed. Yeah it'd be nice if he fought Winky, but hey you could have Arthur Abraham on the undercard of this fight vs Giovanni Lorenzo (or Raul Marquez, whoever wins that fight) setting up a December/January/February unification bout.

I'm happy to see Rubio land a big payday, but I can't lie - this fight coming next, after another perceived mismatch later tonight, is a huge letdown to say the very least.

I'd rather see Pavlik-Wright, and let Rubio fight Duddy for something of an eliminator, rather than both getting undeserving cracks at the linear title.

Pavlik is still a very young cat. Props to him for fighting allot although i gotta be honest and tell you i didn't know any of his 2 latest opponents. But he's like 25 and still learning and already has good names and a champion on his resume so it's allgood we still like you Pav.
