it' the truth , floyd took on the bests at 130 , 135...10 lbs apart his orginal weightlcass but after that he really has'nt done much....and i dont expect him to change that in the future ..floyd is just not a "warrior"..he just aint..it's a mental thing ,and as much as skillfull boxer he is, he just does'nt have the "it".....Comment

In your eyes and the eyes of most of the people posting on this message board, Mayweather is nothing compared to the 145lb & 150lb champion that you worship!Comment

At 140, Mayweather called out both Cotto and Hatton. Both of them, or rather their promoters, refused to put those guys in the ring with him. He called Mosley out at 135 and at 147 twice and Mosley turned the fighter down three times before Mayweather fought Oscar. Kostyzu chose to fight Hatton at 140 instead of fighting Mayweather. Mayweather fought the best available fighters at 147 (Judah, Baldomir, not Margarito because he was never considered the best fighter at 147) before making a big money fight against Oscar. He has fought and beat signficantly better competition than any active fighter, including the god of this message board. There is no valididy to this thread and if the thread starter actually followed boxingand knew what the boxing scene has been like over the past 12 years instead of simply looking at records, he would know this.Comment

140: Gatti was the #1 JWW. Tszyu was injured when Floyd came entered 140 in 2004. Floyd openly voiced fighting the Tszyu-Hatton winner, Tszyu lost. Cotto, the other top 140 lb fighter, wanted absolutely nothing to do with a Floyd fight at 140 after the Gatti fight.
147: Judah, Baldomir, Mosley, and Ortiz were all top 5 when Floyd beat them. Judah #5, Baldomir RING champ, Mosley #2, and Ortiz #2. Hatton was also #8 P4P and unbeaten, as well as Mosley being #3 P4P at the time as well. Marquez at 144 doesn't look so bad now either.
154: Cotto and De La Hoya were both Top 3. Cotto #1 and Oscar #3.
Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz, and Cotto were all solid wins either at the time or looking back now. Add those on top of his wins at 130-135 over Genaro, Manfredy, Corrales, C. Hernandez, Chavez, and Castillo, that's a pretty damn good resume.Comment

Mayweather fought everyone that was available and made the most financial sense at the time. Margarito made sense, but then he wouldn't have got his shot at Oscar de la Hoya. So financially, that made sense. Hatton was undefeated. I didn't really like the JMM fight at the time, but after the 3rd and the 4th Pac fight, it was a pretty good win. Mosley knocked out Margarito, and when I say Margarito I mean the cheating version. So that was a a legit win. Talk about Mosley having time off all you want. Mayweather was coming off a long lay off as well. Ortiz was a solid win. He had all the advantage from a physical standpoint. The only thing people can really say is inexperienced, which is a BS excuse. Ortiz was a champ. Once you become the champ, the inexperience excuse should never be used as an excuse at that point. On top of all that most of his WW run was against fighters ranked in the top 5. And although I'm not too hyped about Guerrero, it would be a solid win. He's ranked #3 right now I believe in WW after JMM. He's the next in line. Rather Guerrero being a choice, I think it was more of a lack of choice. Who else in WW other than Guerrero? (And don't name any Top Rank fighters).
My only beef with his WW resume is Baldomir.Comment
