Mayweather-De La Hoya will still happen......

so many floyd threads around so it's easier to just make a new thread to give my opinion.

this is a power move by floyd for more money. do you honestly think he's walking away from all the money?

this is floyd's way of threatening golden boy because he wants leverage and no one , i repeat no one , ever has leverage over oscar.

floyd will be back. at least just to fight oscar once they work a new deal out. plus since he retired right now. after he cashes in on the oscar fight easier for him to retire again instead of fighting the margarito-cotto winner.

when people question why he retires instead of fighting the winner of margarito-cotto all floyd will say in reply is , "i retired before the oscar fight and they just convinced me to fight one last fight with oscar , so i did. it has nothing to do with avoiding cotto or margarito. i was gonna retire before i fought oscar but was convinced to come back for one last fight."

that's what i think. oscar-floyd will still happen this year if not next.

Ill gon on the record as saying i dont think that fight was ever going to happen, same for the hatton rematch.

However, i bet ya if cotto beats margarito, he will call mayweather out, and mayweather will take the bait.

I was kind of thinking of that because everyone talked about the Floyd-Oscar fight but it still wasnt made after all this time. I was thinking that the reason it was taking so long was because Oscar was trying to punk Floyd at the table while Floyd was probably saying that he won the fight and had a big money fight with Hatton after that so it should be a 50/50 split and we know Oscar aint having that. I could see that being a reason that Floyd just said **** it. Maybe it was a power move or maybe he just really wanted to say **** it but I do think there may have been some big problems at the table.

On top of that Floyd probably felt that Oscar actually needed him since Oscar has seemed so possesed over the rematch happening and with Floyd Sr.

I hope Oscar calls his bluff and fights someone else.

Will teach the guy not to throw his toys out of the pram...

          we'll see.

that's an excelent scenario as well.

maybe they didn't expect oscar-floyd to draw as good as they hoped?

floyd retires. cotto claims the welter division and floyd comes out to challenge him?

          it'll be good money.

            question.

            cotto wins.

            floyd wants to fight him.

            oscar wants to fight him.

who does cotto take? which is the bigger money fight?

More money is to be made fighting DLH, he is, with the possible exception of Hatton, the biggest draw in boxing today.

He would also be the easier fight, but I can see Cotto choosing Floyd for his legacy.

good point. but wouldn't it be funny if cotto makes floyd wait? if he beats de la hoya he'll be a star.

I don't believe him, I agree with the original poster, I think he's doing this to gain more leverage and make more money against DLH.
