Has it occured to you that Arum is just happy that the best fighter (who also refuses to fight under his promotion) in the divison is leaving, and Arum has the idea that this makes his next welterweight PPV even bigger? Why would he **** on someone he was happy to see leaving? It's not smart business.

This is actually great news for all of US that never wanted to see the Delahoya/Mayweather rematch. This means Floyd won't waiste the next 4 or 5 months promoting and training for the Delahoya rematch.

This is simple really. There are only 3 scenerios that I think will happen:


1.Cotto defeats Margarito (which is what I think will happen). With a lil push from Max Kellerman or Larry Merchant, "Miguel, what do you have to say about Floyd mayweather retiring".

Cotto, "Floyd Mayweather is a coward and retired because he is scared of me"

Mayweather to Ellerbe, "Make the ****ing fight happen, Roger get my running shoes".



2. Mayweather doesn't take the bait. Delahoya chooses Cotto for his last fight. Cotto defeats The Golden Boy, Mayweather comes out of retirement in 2009 and we have ourselfs a SUPER-SUPER-FIGHT, bigger then it was orignally supposed to be.


3. My least favorite. Mayweather stays retired, grows old and never comes back. But that's because Miguel Cotto failed to beat Margarito OR beat him but failed to defeat Delahoya.


THE BURDEN IS ON COTTO. IT'S UP TO HIM NOW.

i hope after cotto/dlh floyd will come back but I don't think he will. He'll love getting begged to come back and fight but he'll just laugh in their faces and say "nope" ala Lennox Lewis.

No one liked Lewis until after he retired.

Maybe is paves the way for dealing with Floyd in the future. This was a suprise to me too. If Arum and dlh could squash their beef, maybe floyd and arum can also.

Mayweather will be back for Cotto provided Cotto beats both Margarito and De La Hoya. Make no mistake about it.

Oh wait, he's turning down a multi million dollar fight vs Oscar at age 31 only to comeback to Cotto lets say age 33? That's exactly what he won't do. He will be remembered make no mistake. If he ever returns to the ring it will be for money as they all do, and judging by the fortune he managed to gather that will be when he's already too old to fight any but an exhibition meaningless fight.
