    Mandatories

While Calzaghe looks set to have his title stripped because he hasn't fought the mandatory in the 6 months since he won it why has the WBC not stripped Floyd Mayweather of his title since he hasn't fought his mandatory?

The WBC counted the Hatton fight as a mandatory defense.

Which is fair enough, actually, since the fight was at welterweight.

Yea it should, If Calzaghe defended the WBC belt against Kelly Pavlik you wouldnt hear any complaints..

I think it's fair as well, although I think they should strip him before the DLH fight or have an interim champion at 147 since he isn't going to defend it in the foreseeable future.

It wouldnt matter, if floyd constantly chased the IBF/WBA/WBO they would all love him just the same, especially the WBO, they would make him superchamp and hed never defend ever again.

How did Hatton become WBC mandatory without fighting at 147? His two previous fights were at 140. He never held a WBC belt. It was 13 months after Floyd won the title he fought Hatton anyway.

I remember Hatton was stripped of the IBF title he just won fighting Urango, for fighting Castillo instead of N'Dou.
                Different rules for certain people...

Mayweather has never faced a real mandatory since he won the title from Baldomir in Nov 2006. He receives special treatment from the WBC for some reason.
