Barrios is good and hungry and Julio is just as good as Kirkland. Good fights.

HBO was so impressed with the trio that appeared on the recent "Night of The Rising Stars," that a second appearance for all three, Alfredo Angulo, James Kirkland and Yuriorkis Gamboa, is being discussed with their promoter, Gary Shaw. MaxBoxing/BoxingScene.com's Steve Kim reports that a date of October 11 is being thrown around for the show. [details]
(1) HBO putting its money where its mouth is--they want to win back some credibility by putting on good BAD shows with young prospects actually being tested, instead of coddling guys until they get a title shot (see: Andre Berto, hopefully the last prospect they will ever do that with).
(2) Gary Shaw breaking away from his GBP-HBO like "exclusivity" of sorts with Showtime and making great fights on HBO, obviously because Showtime can't afford them. Either way, it's good to see he isn't going to put Gamboa/Kirkland/Angulo on ShoBox for another year to milk them in much less competitive fights.
If this happens, kudos to HBO and Shaw. Wow, it's weird to type that.
Boxing's future looks very bright if the young fighters are willing to take fights like these.
Yuriokis Gamboa
Amir Khan
Abner Mares
Jorge Linares
Edwin Valero (if he can keep fighting in the USA)
Andre Berto
Kelly Pavlik
Edison Miranda
James Kirkland
Andre Ward
The Dannys (Garcia and Jacobs)
David Haye (hey, I know he's not as young as these other guys, but it's the HEAVYWEIGHT division, where 32 yrs old is young)
