I think Margarito can take a better punch than Gatti, but I think Gatti actually had better head movement and was better overall defensively.

Gatti-Ward Rounds 8 & 9 is all I have to say to that

you could run over Gatti's head with a cement truck and wouldn't hurt him. most of the knockdowns I've ever seen of him came from body shots. he knows how to eat a lot of punches

I've seen Gatti wobbled and hurt from a head shot way too many times, I have yet to see Margarito in trouble.
