Haha, good question... well, Ray Leonard was certainly irritating as hell to me personally, I found him such a wanna Muhammad Ali. Even copping the Ali shuffle. That bugged me. I hate unoriginal **** like that. And his constant retiring bothered me. He never stayed retired damn it. It took Norris to practically decapitate him before... oh, he came back for some more ass whuppin from Hector, jeez.. I kind of never got Ray's charisma. I never found him that charismatic. Something just didn't click for me. As much as Mayweather runs his mouth a lot, and he is certainly inspiring a lot of hatred, I find him remarkably charismatic. Especially when he talks about his upbringing. Roy I thought, as cool as it seemed to a lot of people, was very disrespectful with his hands behind his back thing, then KOing the dude (even I admit it was cool as hell at the time, but quite disparaging and unsportsmanlike) and I didn't like his pointless posturing and showboating against an inactive, blown-up Trinidad as it didn't prove ****. Try that with Tarver and he'll lay your ass out again, I was thinking to myself..
But I digress, uh... I'm not sure who was most hated, Floyd certainly seems to be almost CULTIVATING the mantle unlike the other two who pissed people off more coincidentally
There were fans who didn't like Leonard and even more who didn't like Roy, but Mayweather has (deliberately) generated the most heat on himself.
Roy is supposed to be very cool with fans, but from what I hear Floyd is much nicer in person than Ray.
People in the boxing business may tell you that Roy is the biggest pain in the ass to work with as he is insistent on everything being his way.
Yeah, Leonard is supposed to be the biggest ******* of the 3 behind closed doors.
Roy is a mixed bag as he could be a prima donna and a pain in the ass (HBO fired him for never going to meetings), but also has a reputation for being extremely generous and charitable.
Mayweather certainly makes the most effort to be the "heel" in public, but he also tries to do the nice guy thing. It's like he can't decide which role to play.
Leonard and De La Hoya knew what role to play in front of the camera, from the moment they turned pro.
