Maskaev is in his 40th year, has fought once in the past year and a half, which was a KO loss.

He was inactive because of serious back injuries and looked very old and shot against Peter.

Maskaev may have been a top ten heavyweight a year or two ago, but he's definitely not one now. Sometimes the Ring ratings are a bit slow to change, and don't necessarily reflect a fighters current ability.

Instead of fighting Maskeav, Haye should fight someone who's not shot and preferably coming off a win. Haye vs. Dimitrenko, Valuev, Chagaev, Ibragimov, or Povetkin would be interesting. Why not a good young American like Travis Walker?

But he'll choose someone like Maskaev, Toney or Rahman who are shot, no doubt.

Warren wants to be the one to derail him the way he did with Fraudley....

I don't think that he is a bad opponent as a first heavyweight fight..... he has to grow into the division. Think you a bein a bit harsh

You think that's harsh, look back in the thread.
He said Skelton will KO Haye.

That doesnt mean they should try and diminish him at every opportunity. That way they're moving themselves from boxing fans to idiotic fans

That was before the Peter fight.

At that point, I was judging Maskaev by his last fights. He looked very good against Rahman, stopping him in the last round. He's always been a powerful puncher (but has had a suspect chin).

But when I saw how slow he was against Peter, I realized the years and those back injuries had finally caught up to him. He looked like he had aged 10-15 years in those 18 months between the Rahman and Peter fights.

He'll be an easy KO for Haye. He may still have a good punch, but he's too old and slow now to connect against a younger, faster fighter like Haye.

Haye vs. Skelton would be a difficult, ugly fight. Skelton has a good chin, and has a bag of tricks that rivals Hopkins: hitting while holding, head-butts, sleeper holds, rabbit punches, etc. His wrestling and holding would tire the stamina-challenged Haye, and I think he defeat Haye by late KO.
                  Wow!!! I'm speechless...
