What do you think of Alexander Alexeev?

Here's a video of Alexander Alexeev's fight yesterday. His opponent was very aggressive so the fight was entertaining while it lasted.

Alexeev defeated David Haye in the amateurs and had a close fight with Odlanier Solis (losing on points 24-21) in the 2004 Olympics. So far, he's looked very good as a pro, but it will be interesting to see how he will do against the cruiserweight contenders. In my opinion he will defeat Tokarev, Huck, Fragomeni, Bell, and most of the others.

The speculation is that his Universum promoters feel he is ready, and he will be going for a cruiserweight title in the coming months.

He's an excellent prospect. Classic euro/russian style fighter with good power. I'm pretty sure that he'll be a big force in the cruisers for years to come.

The win yesterday over Azille was very good.

I would love to see him against a boxer type e.g cunningham or BJ flores. But I reckon he should chase someone like Enzo maccarinelli if enzo fancy it.

One thing those Russia is going to be a powerhouse in terms of boxing in the next 5 to 10 years or so, They seem to be producing prospects after prospects. Its an amazing development. I wish England is like that.

With Haye gone I believe it's his division in a year. He's fought stronger competition(Azille,Griffis) than a lot of the Cruiserweight prospects. The way Alexeev is destroying credible opponents it's just a matter of time before he fights a top 10 opponent .

IMO Alexeev would KO Enzo Maccarinelli, but the slick Steve Cunningham would be a difficult match up for him.

Flores wouldn't be a problem - Alexeev is better able to connect than Wilson - while the aging but underrated iron-chinned Firat Arslan wouldn't be easy.

Adamek and Cunningham, as well as another excellent prospect Frenkel will likely be his main competition in the next few years.
